CMYK = Cyan Magenta Yellow and blacK
All graphics and text in your electronic files MUST be set up as CMYK with or without Pantone® (“spot”) colors prior to printing on a printing press. If you artwork is printed for short run color laser printing, it can set up either way.
CMYK, Pantone or RGB? What does it mean?
RGB = Red Green Blue
Files set up with RGB text and graphics can only be printed on a copier or color copier.
If your job will require large scale quantity press printing, extra DTP charges will incur for the time required in order to convert them to CMYK/Pantone.
Pantone®= Spot color
Pantone® (PMS spot) colors are defined to print as a pre-mixed color. Each spot color is printed separately from other spot colors or CMYK colors using its own printing press plate. Inks are mixed according to their specific formula to achieve 1, 2 or 3-color printing.
Please note that “metallic” inks can ONLY be printed using spot colors.
