Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We are located in the Vocational Building at the Tucson High Magnet School campus. Our front entrance is from Euclid Avenue. Due to our limited parking, please park as close to the building as possible so as not to block the sidewalk. Click Here for a map.
Does the Print Shop service the copiers in my office?
The only copiers the Print Shop Department are responsible for are the two Xerox copiers in the Copy Room located in the lower level of the 1010 Main Office. Please call the Print Shop with any questions or when supplies need to be replenished.
Can we order Warehouse items through the Print Shop?
Yes. With the reduction of the number of items the Warehouse stores, all Warehouse items can still be ordered directly from the Print Shop Department. We need a Print Shop Work Order form with the Warehouse item number (or TUSD Form number).
Can we order items through Lawson?
No. Budget Codes, however, must be in the Lawson format. We still require an original Print Shop Work Order form with either a Budget Code or PO Number with an authorized signature. No faxed versions or copies will be accepted by the Finance Department.
What software do you support?
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher 2003)
Adobe Acrobat (Mac/PC)
Adobe InDesign CS5
Adobe Illustrator CS5
Adobe Pagemaker v.7 (PC)
Adobe Photoshop CS5
We do not support Print Shop Pro/Print Master, CorelDraw or WordPerfect type “home office” software files.

How do I send my files to you?
We accept USB (Flash) drives, DVD-R and CD-R discs. Files under 13 MB in size may be e-mailed to us at the Print Shop (call in advance before e-mailing to ensure they go to the correct recipient).
Files may also be uploaded (TUSD Intranet only) directly to the Print Shop's upload server. Please name your files appropriately prior to uploading. Append your Site Name to the filename to make it easier to identify (eg: Cholla brochure.pub -not- brochure.pub) Files uploaded may not be renamed/deleted once they have been copied to our server. Call the Print Shop for help/assistance.
Do I need to schedule an appointment?
The Print Shop's workload varies each day. It is a good idea to call in advance to schedule an appointment to discuss your printing job so that we can set aside a time to give your job's full and detailed attention so that all aspects are covered. Call us with any questions regarding our hourly design and typesetting rates.
What are your turnaround times?
The typical turnaround time is 7-10 business days. This is contingent upon Financial approval. Turnaround times vary throughout the year, particularly prior to AIMS testing, Elementary/Middle School Yearbooks, etc. Please call for an estimated turnaround time prior to submitting your job.
Do I need to fill out a Work Order?
Yes. Every job submitted to the Print Shop, whether it is Special Billing (paid by check, PO#) or paid via District funds, must be submitted with a completed work order. Work orders must have an original signature and either Budget Code, PO#, etc. Faxes or e-mailed requests are not accepted. If you order business cards online but plan to pay for them yourself, you must STILL submit a printed Confirmation Sheet. Please call the Print Shop and let us know.
Can I pay for my own order?
Yes! Payment is due upon receipt of your order and must be made in the form of a personal check or money order. We do not accept cash, credit or debit. Make checks payable to "TUSD Print Shop".
Does the Print Shop store my jobs?
We normally run extras for certain jobs and save a sample for our own records. We do NOT run extras and store those on a shelf for later re-ordering. We archive “most” jobs onto disc while others that are dated and will typically only be printed once will not be saved. If you would like us to save your job electronically, please mark so on your work order. If you know your TUSD Form Number or Warehouse Item Number, please write it on your work order so we may locate your plates.
Do you do work for outside organizations?
The Print Shop has from time to time accepted work from non-profit organizations affiliated with TUSD or other school districts. Keep in mind that it the the Policy of TUSD that TUSD jobs are of highest priority and outside jobs will only be accommodated if there is time and resources available. Please contact Mike Arellano, Print Production Coordinator at 520-225-5437 for more info regarding outside jobs.
What is the largest size of paper the Print Shop can print on?
Currently, the largest size page we can accommodate is 13 x 19, or 12 x 18 with a bleed for copying or press printing. Our wide-format (large posters & banners) we can print at a maximum width of 42” (depending on material type) and a length limited to the size of the roll.
What does 'camera ready' mean?
This means that the master artwork you have given the Print Shop is the clean original document that will go directly to the copier or press for printing. Booklets must be in “printer spreads”. For large printing press jobs we will require electronic files as we have a 100% digital plate-making system. If any adjustments need to be made then the customer will be charged accordingly.
How do I use the 'online card/routing slip' order forms?
Data entered in the online forms is electronically submitted to us at the Print Shop once the SUBMIT button is clicked. We will NOT begin your job until a Confirmation Sheet is delivered to us. For step-by-step instructions on how to fill out these forms, click here.
Does the Print Shop deliver?
Customers may either pick up their jobs at the Print Shop or have them delivered via District mail. We do not make personal deliveries.
What are your deadlines for Honor Programs, Commencements and Yearbooks?
End of the year print jobs have to meet hard deadlines. Due to the end of the year schedule, we request that artwork for Yearbooks be submitted approximately one month prior to the last day of school, usually the last week of April. Beyond that we cannot guarantee your job will be ready before the last day of school. Call for an exact date for deadlines.
